Note from our Executive Director regarding Holly Days
On Sunday, November 15, 2020 The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued a new emergency order which enacts a three-week pause, targeting indoor social gatherings and other activities, in an effort to curb rapidly rising COVID-19 infection rates.
The Greater Farmington Area Chamber of Commerce discussed with the City of Farmington, the Farmington Farmers Market, and the Farmington Area Jaycees on best way to proceed with our scheduled Holly Days events, including the Greens, Gifts and Giving Farmers Market, the Holly Days Rally, and the Virtual Tree Lighting.
All parties involved in planning and executing Holly Days came to the conclusion that in order to keep our community safe from the rising COVID-19 cases, we must unfortunately cancel our Greens, Gifts and Giving Farmers Market and our Holly Days Rally. In a time when our state is prioritizing extreme caution and advising all to avoid large gatherings for everyone’s safety, we all feel it is counter-intuitive to do the opposite and bring people together for Holly Days.
The 35th Annual Farmington Area Jaycees’ Holiday Tree Lighting will still be taking place virtually as planned this year. We are recording a video to be premiered on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 8:00 pm on multiple social media sites as well as the city channel. The video will be filled with festive activities, messages from our city leaders, announcements of this year’s Farmington Area Jaycees’ Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year, and segments from local businesses.
This year has been incredibly difficult on all of us, and the last thing we wanted was to cancel another event, but our community’s health and safety come first. We are doing what we need to now so we can ensure the safety of all and come back next year to the Holly Days as we know and love. We look forward to seeing our community come together to celebrate the holidays and support our local businesses next year and ask the community to shop local whenever possible this year to support our neighbors and friends.
Stay safe, mask up, and do your part to help make sure we can all celebrate in 2021!

Tis the season to be jolly with Holly Days! Celebrate the season with free holiday movies, visits from Santa and kids’ events. Merchants open for a head start on shopping! Hear carolers, sample hot chocolate and feel the warmth of the holiday season.
Due to putting our communities health and safety first, our Light Up The Grand Parade and Tree Lighting will not be taking place how they have in the past. Our Light Up The Grand Parade will actually be our Holly Days Rally that is spread across the community so go on a small drive with your family to see all the floats and groups at their individual locations. Our Tree Lighting will be streamed on Facebook and YouTube so you can watch with your family from the comfort of your own home.
Santa will be visiting us on top of his sled in Riley Park on Saturday, December 5 so come past and take your pictures with him from next to the sled and drop off your letter to him.
