Founders Festival 2020
July 9 – July 12
The annual Greater Farmington Area Founders Festival presented by Meijer returns this year for its 56th celebration of summer with many new attractions including a major expansion into the city’s Shiawassee Park. A soft opening for the Beer Tent starts at 5 p.m. Thursday July 9, while the full festival runs from July 10 through 12. The festival will be bringing back some traditional events like the parade up Grand River Avenue, Beer Tent, and live music. New features include a full carnival of over 20 rides and games. There will also be activities taking place in Downtown Farmington being put on by local businesses and organizations.
What is happening at Founders Festival
Family Fun
Community Choice Credit Union presents Family Fun in Shiawassee Park. The event space will feature a carnival for all ages with games, rides, and food vendors. The Community Choice Credit Union Cash Tornado will be on-site Saturday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Children can meet with Princesses, Super Heroes and characters from Frozen, make crafts, and have their faces painted.
Fido Fest
LaFontaine Subaru presents Farmington Fido Festival will be taking place July 10-12, 2020 in Shiawassee Park during the Farmington Founders Festival!! There will be hours of entertainment, including the Thornton & Grooms Ultimate Air Dogs and Rock N Roll K9’s Performance Team!

Night Life
Here’s your guide to the hottest nightlife at the Farmington Founders Festival. The best LIVE bands are coming: Atomic Radio on Thursday, Fifty Amp Fuse on Friday, and Phoenix Theatre on Saturday. Rocking out not your thing, be sure to check out the Bingo tent and the Saturday Fireworks.

Parking and Transportation
Along with the transition to Shiawassee Park come all-new parking locations. Plenty of parking will be available at Farmington High School, next to Our Lady of Sorrows church, behind the Maxfield Training Center, and other lots around town. A courtesy shuttle provided by American House Senior Living Communities and Omega Benefit Strategies will operate daily between Farmington High and the festival grounds for handicapped, elderly visitors, and expecting mothers.
A stretch of Shiawassee Road will be closed to through-traffic between Farmington Road and south-bound Power Road.


What’s Happening Downtown?
For 2020, we will be working with downtown businesses and organizations to develop their own programs and events to occur over the Founders Festival weekend in tandem.
