Every year, Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) proudly supports deserving businesses and organizations dedicated the betterment of Michiganders. As the backbone of our communities, small businesses deserve our support more now than ever this holiday season. That is why the credit union is pleased to launch their Give the Gift of Local giveaway and grant more than $18,500 to local small businesses and their patrons.

“While we’ve helped process more than $6.3 million in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans for more than 130 local small businesses, we recognize that small businesses are crucial to our economy. In support of the Southeast Michigan community, we are asking MSGCU members and team members to ‘give the gift of local’ by shopping locally this season and nominating their favorite local small businesses for a chance to win,” said Ann Jones, MSGCU Vice President of Marketing and Business Development.

Through December 11, MSGCU members can nominate their favorite (non-franchise) independently-owned, local small business which is within 10 miles of an MSGCU branch, via the credit union’s website at msgcu.org/local. All small businesses in the local area are encouraged to share the giveaway across their networks, reminding MSGCU members to submit a nomination.

Once all nominations are received, MSGCU will randomly select an entry for each branch area and award $1,000 to 15 local businesses and provide a $100 gift card to the nominating member. An additional two local businesses will also be selected and awarded $1,000 via nominations from MSGCU’s own team members.

For non-MSGCU members wishing to nominate their favorite local small business, the credit union is open to all residents of the Lower Peninsula. Joining is easy and can be done online at msgcu.org/join.
